Coating & Printing

Scientific Achievements

  •  Introduction of synthetic thickener in precoat formulation:

Natural thickner was replaced with synthetic thickener in precoat formulation with improved rheology and water holding  capacity of coating color.

  •  Studies on optimization of coating color recipe for air knife coating application:

Different coating formulations were developed and optimized for product quality improvemnet and/or cost reduction.

  •  Development of indigenous starch for coating application:

Few indigenous starch binders were identified possessing comparable properties with those of imported starch.

  •  Development of CMC from local sources:

Indigenous CMC was developed for coating application which had superior functionality.

  •  Development of hydrous clay suitable for blade coating:

Indigenous clay with high shear resistance was developed.

  •  Synthesis of calcium sulphate pigment from industrial waste and its utilization in paper industry:
  •  Synthesized pigment grade calcium sulphate with superior optical properties suitable for coating application.

Current Research Projects

  •  Green approach for synthesis of optical brightning agent and its activation for better performance for indusrial application
